Main House

AUDIO DESCRIBED PERFORMANCES

An audio described performance is a verbal commentary of a show that tells the audience member what is happening on the stage during the performance. Introductory notes are emailed to all customers prior to the Audio Described performance. They include detailed descriptions of the set and characters.

Please let us know at the time of booking that you would like to access the audio descriptions, and we will make sure you are seated in the best possible seats for use of our headsets.

TOUCH TOURS

A Touch Tour allows members of the audience to familiarise themselves with the design of the space, the performers, costumes and props.

A Touch Tour will be available before each Audio Described performance. Information about how to access our Touch Tours will be shared with all bookers in advance of attending the theatre.

CAPTIONED PERFORMANCES

During a captioned performance in the Main House, the actors’ words appear on a screen above the stage. Please let us know at the time of booking if you would like to use the captions and we will make sure you are seated in the best position for that performance.

After each captioned show, a live subtitled discussion and Q&A will follow. If you would like to attend, please stay in your seats after the show.

These services are provided by Stagetext.

Downstairs

CLOSED CAPTIONED PERFORMANCES

During a captioned performance in the Downstairs space, the actors’ words appear on a handheld tablet, also called closed captioning. These can also be accessed on your mobile phone or personal device. Please let us know at the time of booking if you would like to use the captions.

These services are provided with the use of equipment by Difference Engine.

AUDIO INTRODUCTIONS

We provide an audio introduction for all Downstairs shows. This audio will be released two weeks after the show opens and available through a link on the show page.

It contains the following: a detailed description of the set; interviews with cast where they describe their appearance; describe their costumes; talk about any characterisations that aren’t audible and give a few lines in their accent/voice in the show, if it is different to their normal speaking voice.

TOUCH TOURS

A Touch Tour allows members of the audience to familiarise themselves with the design of the space, the performers, costumes and props.

One Touch Tour will be available per production. Information about how to access our Touch Tours will be shared with all bookers in advance of attending the theatre.
