Hampstead's green success continues

For the second year running Hampstead Theatre achieved Julie’s Bicycle Industry Green (IG) certification in 2011/12. We have been awarded 1 star in recognition of our strong commitment to managing our carbon and improving our environmental impact. Industry Green is the recognised stamp of achievement for the creative industries. Hampstead joins around 80 other creative organisations currently certified to form part of a collaborative sector-wide response to climate change.

Through careful monitoring of our energy usage and continued commitment to improving operational practices across all departments, Industry Green certification showed that Hampstead Theatre achieved a 41% reduction in carbon emissions from energy use per performance per seat and a 42% reduction in kWh energy use per performance per seat comparing 2010/11 and 2011/12. This ‘remarkable’ reduction in energy usage and Hampstead Theatre’s commitment to environmental sustainability was recognised in the London Theatre Consortium’s Sustainability Awards, where we were awarded the Julie’s Bicycle LTC Award 2012 for Greatest Emissions Reductions.
